Contemplation No. 3 (three pieces for Jason Moran).
Recorded Tuesday, May 11th, 2021.

I am not a pianist. But I love the piano. Jason Moran plays all of the piano. And by that I mean to say, that he encapsulates worlds of traditions of piano playing (and worlds of traditions of music) in his own performance. From stride and boogie-woogie, to classical art song and Delta blues - he plays it all. This I find is a rarity amongst creative souls, and provides a particular blessing to all who witness his artistry.

So, these three brief improvisations with spurts of preconceived thematic material, are in honor and gratitude to Jason Moran. May us artists strive to share in such love of creative craft as he has.

This is the third and final of three.
